Default eMachineShop.com

Anyone here ever use eMachineShop.com for any parts they need? Just checking if someone has any experience to talk of.

Thanks

Pretty sure they charge a lot of money, I looked into it but if I recall they wanted a lot of money for some parts.

from what i remember emachineshop has good prices as long as you are doing a large run. If you only need a few pieces or you are prototyping, then they are extremely expensive

I downloaded the software and tried getting a quote for a simple exhaust manifold flange from these guys. They wanted $300 a piece for a laser cut flange, if I ordered 100 or more. It was pretty insane. Just give it a try. You will see.

that is nuts for laser cutting. there is a shop local to me that charges $120/hr for machine time. you can cut a lot of damn flanges in 1 hour!

I found their pricing for stamping to be pretty reasonable. I have yet to actually use them though. Their pricing for anything flange related is in the range of 1-offs no matter what quantity.

Anymore information about them?

I'm using Rhino CAD to develop some flanges and then importing the DXF into emachineshop's program. The included program itself is pretty limited, but I understand its ease of convience and the ability to streamline the workflow.

For a 15"W x 3"H x 1"D CNC'ed 6061 its about $120 each if I buy 3. Once you determine the general dimensions the actual machining doesn't affect the price all that much.

So your saying I could probably do better if I look locally? We have Lockheed Martins F16/F22 plant like 2 miles away so I'm sure there are tons of machine shops in this area. I can definently see the advantage of having someone look at it and say what works and what doesn't right there on the spot.

Also, this Rhino program outputs in a large variety or formats. If I wanted to save 3d (XYZ) measurments whats the best format? Its native is .3dm, can most machine shops work with that?

dont buy from them if you dont have the money, i was quoted 20+ bucks for a simple 10x1x.125 sheet of metal with two simple holes... not that i wanted it but i just wanted to see how much it would cost... thats a lot of damn money plus set up fees.... cnc isnt cheap its usually 1 dollar per minute of run time plus set up, but i dont know about this place. go to a local shop thats the only way to do it.
