Default downpipe dent

I have a pretty big dent on the bottom of my turbo downpipe, is it possible at all to get this fixed or bent back? The problem is that it's not very accesible because it's pretty much in the middle of the whole dp. I was thinking maybe cutting out a piece and rewelding it?

You could reweld in a piece. Is it on a turn? that would make it a lil harder. You might also be able to get a body shop to weld on a stud and slide hammer it out like a body panel.

I'm in Broadview when I'm not @ U of I... drop me a PM if you need some welding done.

I am not sure if this would work on this peice of piping, but I used to ride motoX. And I used to get bumps and dings and dents all the time on my expensive FMF header pipe. So, I asked this dude who had been riding for a LONG time if he knew a good way to get the dings out. He said, find a cork big enough to fit in one end of the pipe, right? and then made a plug with a hole in it that will fit in the other end, that you can screw a air-tight fitting for say an air compressor in, heat up the dent and the area around the dent with a torch, and using the compressor to pop the dent out. Now, maybe you could find some sturdy rubber to make plugs out of, and try something like that?

Is it in the straight section or a bend?
Do you want to spend a lot of money or a little?

My dent is in the bend and extents into the straight.
I don't plan on spending much to fix it.
Do you have suggestions on repairing it easily, or do I need to cut and reweld...
My thoughts were to cut the dented section with a plasma cutter, bang it back into shape, and reweld it on... It would just take a few hours...

I got a dent in my full race downpipe. I didn't loose any power last time I went to the dyno.

If I remember correctly my friend fixed his downpipe by drilling a hole and he got the dent hot enough that he was able to pull it out. I forget how exactly he did it, but it was something along those lines.

You can make a tool like the PDR (paintless dent repair) folks do. Basically a really strong rod with a bend on one end and a handle on the other. Heat up the dented area and work it smooth from the inside.

It's probably a waste of time though.

Yeah... except I'm using really thick tubing... Schedule 80 I think for the DP...
I made my stuff out of surplus SS from a chemical plant. The tubes they use are much thicker than regular exhaust tubing...

Drill a hole on the opposite side of the downpipe then use a punch/BFH to drive the dent out. then weld the hole closed.
