I don't think the $300 is too much a month at all. A real business has expenses and it cut down on the people selling parts for $5 over cost. With that said i see no reason why those threads were locked. No form of advertising in them and I'm sure most people here enjoyed them, i know i did.

a lot of the guys here are 1 man operations and from personal experience 300 a month could go a LOT further than being spent here. for most, like myself this was a place to share techniques/knowledge and show your progress with no intent to gain business.

Goodbye bells, and to everyone who rocked pics of there work.
I will see you all on the next fab forum

Evo1 I totally agree as I pay over 350$ a month for evolutionm.net and it's great. But how they railroad you into choosing to be banned or paying is complete bullshit.

Later everyone!

I'm sure it's considered marketing by display. It's why people post the best of their work instead of the absolute worst given their name and reputation. Its also stupid because to show anything on a forum could be construed as this type of marketing regardless of whether the post was made to illicit business or not.

If you guys had threads only showing the most horrible crap you've ever produced I doubt it would ever be locked because they could never make the case you were trying to solicit work from the posting.

My overhead is right at 4700 a month with my house, shop, vacation property, employee... All that not including my extremly expensive race car habit... 300 a month is alot to a shop like mine especially since i cant see myself bringing in 300 more a month fron this site. There are only like 10 people from colorado that are active on h-t and i already work with all of them lol.

I'm not saying everyone that has a fab thread on here should pay $300 a month to have a fab thread. I didn't view any of the closed ones as advertisements (And i'm someone who will be a paying vendor on here and a few other IB sites in the next week or so). Lets be honest, anyone that does pretty nice work, can help others and contribute to the forum, at some point has earned money doing fabrication, i don't view that as advertising, without them the forum will dry up. I'm saying from an advertising standpoint its not a bad deal to pay $300 a month to be able to sell and market your product to a site with this much traffic.

i dont cater to a honda market at all.
if you look at any of my projects, they've been in a much different 'level' to put it bluntly, so paying 300/mo here would be a total waste of $ for me personally.

Exactly ...you shouldn't have to pay to have a thread in here. Me saying $300 is no big deal to advertise on honda-tech is in response to someone saying $300 is too much to advertise. 2 completely different points...you're not advertising.

I haven't worked on a Honda in a long time, and that was never the point. I came as this is one amazing collection of good fab/welding guys, and most willing to lend a hand.

I agree..i viewed these threads as an enthusiastic fabricator rather than a shop owner. Seeing stuff gave me motivate to always strive to better my work.

I'm going to miss this forum. We should setup a welding/fab subreddit at reddit.com.

This forum is a huge wealth of knowledge and has some of the best fabricators. Your guys FAB threads are the only reason I come here. Without Bells, Toxic and others that consistently post their work there won't be a whole lot to see. So where are we going? lol

sounds like someone who has some common sense needs to look at what is going on here. This forum is valuable because of the badasses who post great technical info. If anything you should pay these guys to post their great tech info here.

What a bunch of bullshit. that is all...
