Default VSS drive gear, possible problems?

I posted this in the integra section about a week and a half ago, but didn't get any responses, so I decided to post it hear.

I've done just about everything I can think of to get my speedo working, but no luck. I've narrowed it down to being the drive gear in the tranny because I can take the VSS out and spin it by hand and have a speed register on the speedometer. Wondering if anyone has an exploded diagram of a b series tranny that I can look at to better understand how it works, or any tips or tricks to maybe get it working (it would seem that the gear on the VSS isn't touching the drive gear in the tranny). Anyone know how difficult it is to fix something like this. I can't seem to find a lot of info on this problem. Any advice would be great. Thanks, RV.

what car did the vss on ur tranny originally come off of? I was having trouble putting a 99 gsr vss in a y21 tranny and was told by steve at hmotorsonline that it was too long for my tranny. So, maybe it's possible that you have the wrong vss? It seems that not all b-series vss are interchangable. Post a pic of it if you can. I might have the vss you need if this is ur problem.

Not sure what car it came off of, I got it at a shop that was doing some car work for me. It's raining outside right now, so I'll try to post it up tomorow if the weather is better. That was my original thought, that maybe something wasn't the right size, but from what I had heard, B and D series were interchangeble so I didn't really think anything of it. It does seem kind of long though. I know it's working though, as I can spin it by hand and it registers on the speedometer. Hopefully this is it, as I really didn't want to have to learn to take a tranny apart!

Can you post a pic of what the gear portion of the VSS for a GSR tranny is supposed to look like? I'm not sure what year tranny I have, but I know it's an S80 with the green SN tag on it.

This is the GSR VSS... If this is the one you need, I'll sell it to you for $55 shipped (that's what I got it for). Hope this helps bro!

I'll look tomorow. That does look shorter from what I remember from the one I put in.

That's what I'm thinking. I'll try and get a pic later. I've been extremely busy.
