Default Tranny Issue

I'm not having any luck posting in Tech so I am posting here.

I have a 96 LS tranny with a quaiffe LSD, it seems like something went wrong during installation. the speedo gear that turns the gear on the VSS is not sticking out far enough to turn the VSS gear. how is even this possible? here is a visual aide

Number 6 isnt reaching out far enough to turn the VSS. the Diff fits in a groove so how is this possible?

The only thing I can think of is that you didn't get the VSS pushed far enough in.

No the VSS is all the way in thats not the problem. the speedo gear on the Diff is definatly not coming out far enough. whenn I took teh VSS out of my friends b16 tranny I could look and see the speedo gear clear as day, and it sticks out a bit, same in my sohc tranny. but in my LS tranny that speedo gear is further inside the tranny for some reason. so far in that it cant make contact with teh VSS.

I would estimat ethat the VSS gear needs to be 1/8th bigger or the speedo gear on the diff needs to stick out 1/8th more.

I have a question, are cable tranny diffs the same as hydro?

No, they are differn't. Did you use a diff for a cable tranny in a hydro b series tranny... Techically it would fit, But this would explain your issues.

it has to be right because I reused the ring gear and everything and it fit fine.
