Icon2 Unknown axel

Ok well I have a gsr transmision and when I went to go buy a axel from advanced auto parts the splines on it that go into the tranny were larger then the axel I had in it already. Im not sure what axel I have but the axel I bought was for a gsr transmission.

The axel would slide in fine until it reached the splines in the tranny then.it would just stop. I mustuve tried it atleast 10 time slowly turning it in before I gave up. The axel that I was replacing went in fine though.

I have a quaife lsd so Im not sure if it matters or not. Also I got the axels with the car(obviously) but the previous owner swapped in a jdm b18b. I highly doubt it and im probably gona get flamed for asking but is there any difference between jdm and usdm axels ?
