Transmission 02 Honda Civic hx 5spd
I replaced my clutch to replace my throw out bearing in my car because of the noise, turns out it was my other bearing. So I have a 02 civic hx 5 speed, does anyone know the yrs I can use for a transmission? I was just going to have my bearing replaced but the kid doing it said it would be cheaper and also better if i replaced my transmission. i love my car, I still drive it everyday with the annoying sound it makes, when i push in the clutch the sound goes away. Any thoughts? Should i swap trannies, have mine rebuilt, or just fix the bearing? My car is reaching high miles almost 200.When i replaced my clutch my fly wheel didn't get shaved down either. Is that an absolute thing that needs to be done?

It's really easy to replace the input shaft bearing actually. You just need the bearing and another seal. Then you pop it open and tap out the bearing from the clutch side, tap the new seal in, and then just gently tap the new bearing back in in a circular motion, tapping on the outer ring of the bearing with something until it bottoms out. Then put it back together. You could even get the inboard input shaft bearing and lift it off and set the new one back on. The one that goes bad is normally the outboard bearing on the clutch side but you could just replace both.
There are howto's on youtube for replacing the input shaft bearing, I've seen some for d series, but it's basically the same.
