Phantom Grip, do they really work
Wnats to know from people that have it installed.
Read here a lot of mixed opinions, but all of the old... Also that it is a crap copy of an original design (OPM LSD) which uses clutches...
Need an LSD for my B-series tranny. Have spend some money on other parts and looking to save something if it really works. Will be street driven few times and some drag. Nothing of a daily driven car.

I believe the orignal OPM units actually work, but they're designed with drag racing in mind from what I understand. They're not well suited to a daily driver or road course car due to how they work. So based on what you're looking to do with it you might get away with it, they do put a lot of excessive wear on spider gears though from what I understand.
I opened up a Y1 trans that I ran for a while and found one that I never knew was there. It was phantom alright. Felt open, the quaife that replaced it was night and day difference on power coming out of turns.
A phantom grip requires preload on the side gears of the differential. This is similar to how most clutch type LSD's work, without the clutches.
In the end with extended use, you will wear out the side gears and washers, which will result in spider/side gear breakage. A helix type differential can be quite reliable.
You should really be asking whether or not you need a LSD or not. An answer to this question will determine what you should be aiming for. An LSD is not always ideal.
regardless of what some others may think.

So, that doesn't answer the question.
Requiere LSD, yes.
Do a phantom grip works or it sucks?
