Default phantom grip?

So why do I keep hearing people hating on phantom grip lsd's? I've had one for years in my dd and never paid any attention to wether or not it works in fact I am pretty sure its worn out and doesn't work much at all. But I hear there are rebuild kits for them and for a rave car application they are really good just wear out in a dd application quickly. So my question is this...

I need a good lsd for my drag only race car. I've been using a welded diff cause im poor and it was free. Im thinking about pulling the phantom grip out of my dd to save the cost of buying a quafe, wavetrack, or m-factory unit. I already have to buy a b16 trans, 4.9 final and 3.07 first gear. If I can save the added cost of a good lsd I will be able to get the car back out to the track sooner.

Thanks for the help in advance.

"Phantom Slip, works so good you never knew it was there."

PS was a incomplete copy of a design. The original design is still used in World Challenge, Grand Am, Rally, etc. It is not well suited for drag racing, more suited for road racing and autocross.

I'll have one here tomorrow!!!!

Keeping you OEM diff with a PS or OPM upgrade does nothing for the weak spider gears. I highly suggest a MFactory or Quaife for drag racing.....do it right the first time!

I've only seen a PS help ONE Honda Tranny. The diff pin/spiders exploded at the track and since the PS took up all the extra room in the diff, the shrapnel was contained and didn't ruin the tranny case.
