I have a b16 ys1 cable trans with no grinds. Is there any oem lsd i can use in it. If so where can i get one new at. If not what is a good lsd for cheap. Thanks
If they dont have a factary limited slip then you need to deside what your going to be doing with the car I do know from exp. dont get a fantom grip they dont work but if your doing lots of drag you should pony up the dough and get a cazz there like $1,000 and you have to use HEAVY oil like GL5 and it will click like somthings breaking but its not its just the limited slip locking and unlocking when you turn but you wont break it and it will work great.

Nowhere...any b16 lsd will fit.
Quaife, obx, kaaz, ats, cusco, etc.

The YS1 is essentially the same as any other hydrauluc B series trans. You can even install a gearset out of a hydro trans into a YS1 case.
Save up some $$ and get a Quaife.
Do not get a Kaaz for drag racing. They will tell you that they are not made for it themselves.
Any clutch type LSD is made for mainly road racing for its vast adjustability. You can adjust and use some of them for Drag but, you will need a rebuild in 1-2 years depending on how much abuse you subjected it to.
If you get a Helical diff(Quaife)....no special fluids or maintenance...just install...clearance and go
Stay away from the OEM LSDs like the Y-1....Remember that the LSD is almost 20years old and good luck finding anything to rebuild it. Also Remember that the Y-1 is not Compatible with the YS-1 Transmissions. They are two different animals. The FD ratio on a JDM YS-1 is 4.40 and the FD ratio on the Y-1 is 4.27. Also the Countershafts are different.
Beware of some of the bad information on the site....try to stick to the specialists or OG's....they won't steer you wrong

i think you can run the itr lsd. i met this guy at pomona last year and he claims he is running the itr lsd in his ys1 tranny.
get an obx lsd, a hydro b-series LSD will fit your ys1 cable trans, the only thing you need to know is how many bolts are on the ring gear.
an acura parts catalog will tell you the number of bolts.
if it's the same number as a LS/b16 trans, then get an ls/b16 obx lsd.
if it's the same number as a gsr/type R....gsr/itr differential.
I regret buying my quaife, I should have gotten an obx and put the extra 500+ elsewhere.

You can run it but be sure to have a Type R or GSR Hydro ring and pinion handy...It is not just a bolt in and go. You have to change the ring gear and pinion.
because the bolt pattern is larger. You can get by with just changing the ring gear but, it is better to change things in a matched set to avoid a whining tranny

If you are going to run a Type R LSD you will need to change the ring gear. They have a different inner diameter. The Type R has a larger inner diameter'd ring gear.
after talking to gearspeed a while back just take his advice save, bite the bullet, and get a Quaife its the last one youll ever buy and you cant get a better guarentee anywhere
thats what im gonna do just gotta wait till tax returns

they make them for cable and hydro's. the good thing is no changing around the countershaft. talk to gearspeed he'll get you right
