Default Odd Noise..

I'm fairly new to everything honda. Came from working on my old 77 vette. Lately my 1992 vx started making an odd whistling noise. It sounded like it was from the distributor, changed it and still nothing. Usually it won't make any noise, but when I step on it (as I'm sure everyone does) rpms go up above 5-6k and upon settling down the whistle can be heard for the remainder of the drive. Sometimes it'll happen on startup. Also noticed with the clutch pressed in it sort of silences the sound. Not sure what it is but I'm changing the tranny fluid with 10w30 motor oil to start.
I barely got the car about a month ago.
It has a d16y8 still running on a stock p06 ecu. Distributor was retrofitted with the proper obd1 plug. Tranny is an s20.

Also when throwing it into reverse, clutch in, it'll grind going in, but once in its fine.
Anyone have any ideas? I'll try to upload the video I got of it. Hard to get the whistling sound since its mostly noticeable when the car isn't in neutral and parked.

Edit: I uploaded a short video with the sound. Here is the link:
I'll try to get another good video later.

It seems to quiet down when I step the clutch in. I'll check it out for sure right now.

The random noise goes away slightly when I step in the clutch. Just enough to barely be able to notice its a tiny bit quieter. I still have no idea.
Got a quick shot of it.

Is changing it something a DIY-er can do safely or am I better off taking it to a shop? Also about changing a complete clutch kit.

Do you own a decent set of tools and a civic maintenance manual?

Manual no. Tools yes more than enough.
I've been looking around for a manual, which one is recommended? I really disliked Haynes.
