lsd question???
hi HT, been reading all weekend long with not very much real answers!!
ive just purchased a B series LSD(vicsious) with ring gear on, its a 66 tooth with 14 bolt holding the ring to the diff!! i am running a 1998 GSR transmission and wanted to know for sure i can fit this in mine!! do i just put my ring gear on this lsd diff or can i just keep the ring gear that is on the diff and just swap diffs??

The GSR has a 4.4 final drive — I'm almost certain it has 66 teeth on the ring gear.
It isn't necessary to swap the ring gears if your LSD came with a 66t ring gear. However, (call me crazy) I would swap them anyway. Since the GSR's ring gear and counter shaft are already "mated" to each other I think it would cause less wear. Plus, now you can loctite and re-torque the bolts for peace of mind (74.5 ft-lbs).
**Don't forget that the ring gear bolts are REVERSE threads — Righty Loosy, Lefty Tighty.**

You need the countershaft that came from the transmission the diff and ring gear came from. Or another ring gear and countershaft that fits that LSD (very, very hard to find) No you can't use your GS-R ring gear (unless it's a JDM viscous LSD version) as it's a 10 bolt ring gear.
It is always best to use a match set countershaft and ring gear but if you don't have the matching countershaft you should be able to still use it. The 66 tooth ring gear on a viscous LSD with ball bearings was most likely from a YS1 1992-1993 trans. It used the 3 ID line countershaft which is the same as your hydro GSR. Try to install the LSD and ring gear with your shaft and see how it feels. Like I said - it's better to use a match set but I think you will be okay.
