Default Leaking Fluid

Hello my girl friend has a 99 honda crv auto trans with 175K miles that has had problems for about 1 week shifting uphill and when it reved above 4500 rpms you would hear a sputtering sound. I then noticed she was leaking transmission fluid all over the driveway so I took it in to the local transmission shop and it threw catalytic converter code. They said it would cost about $600 just to take things apart and to look at it.

I couldn't afford that repair just yet but I did take it over to the local muffler shop and have them switch out the catalytic converter. It is no longer having issues shifting nor making the sputtering sound.

My question is this what are the chances of it just blowing a main seal because the catalytic converter was busted and would put the transmission under more stress? Or would I be looking more towards worn bushing just because I know she doesnt drive the way you should when you go over speed bumps?

Any Information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
