Want the most optimal setup? Here you go (you will need to change your gear ratios though):

1st: 3.070 - 50mph
2nd: 2.105 - 73mph (Shift Pt: 6227rpm)
3rd: 1.695 - 91mph (Shift Pt: 7321rpm)
4th: 1.384 - 111mph (Shift Pt: 7452rpm)
Final Drive - 4.05
LSD - You will need to change it. Your oem won't fit

111mph not enough speed? Increase you rpm to suit (or use a 1.296 4th gear)

you can also shift into 5th

this is really interestig to me, i'm currently building my tranny in the process with an mfactory 4.928 FD. and the 10 bolt ITR LSD, car is used for drag, running 22" drag radials, no slicks

200-205 whp, currently traps 99, with ITR tranny with 4.4 FD in 4th gear, shifting about 8800, peak power at 8k. a picture of my dyno graph is in my bio

current trannies I have at my disposal- GSR, and ITR,

1. should I run the ITR with 4.928 FD straight?
2. should I run the run a hybrid of the 2? what gears do I want?

I'm mainly concerned with 2nd gear
with a 4.9FD, the gs-r 2nd gear (1.9) offers the exact same gearing as a ITR (2.1) with a 4.4 fd, or do i want an even shorter 2ng gear? (2.1 with 4.9 fd)

i'm assuming that the itr 4th gear (1.1) is what i want to go with (100 mph at 8200 rpm, and I can spin my motor higher if need be)

also looking into the 3.070 first gear.. but with the 4.9fd, its still shorter than stock 3.2 with 4.4 fd, so i dont know how much it will help

The ratios I posted above are optimal for All Motor

If changing only final drive, I would use the B16/ITR ratios with 4.928.

oldskool teggy (based on 8800rpm, 22"):

1st: 3.070 - 38mph
2nd: 2.105 - 56mph (Shift Pt: 6020rpm)
3rd: 1.458 - 80mph (Shift Pt: 6145rpm)
4th: 1.107 - 106mph (Shift Pt: 6665rpm)

thanks, so really a 1.9 second gear, even with a 4.928 FD, most likely wont help my times..

thanks!

Will this setup work /w a GSR quaife?? I wasn;t really interested until I saw an all motor car do 9.99 @ 111 mph.... hmmm

9.99 @ 111? There's something wrong with those numbers.

Yeah it seemed very wrong to me too... 111 is the mph for a high 11 sec run..

It was a black coupe /w wheelie bars let me see if I can find the vid again

I found it... and I feel like a douche lol..

The end of the vid is blurry.. the mph is actually 131.. it just looks like 111 at the end

is it detrimental to run out of gear before i hit 60 mph? i know 0-60ft is very important, but about about 0-60mph??

wondering if i should instead go with the 1.9 #2 gear

why would you care about the 60 mph?
we are talking 1/4 mile here.

correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt a quick 0-60mph time also a good indication of how fast you can go?

what speed are most people cross the 0-60ft mark at?? it doesnt show up on my timeslips so i dont know

From what I understand there are a few goals you should have with respect to gearing:

- Shift as few times as possible while still staying in your power band (this means staying out of 5th for us)
- keep your shifts in your power band. for example for me @5500 i have 165hp, @6500 i have 205hp... well hot damn if i can stay closer to 6500 rpm when i shift i get a free 40 hp!!!
- cross the finish line at the peak of your power band. Ideally you want to be wound right out in your last gear just as you cross the 1/4 mile

you use gears to control the rpm drop between shifts and you use final drive to control how many times you have to shift, and what MPH you make in each gear. This can then be fine tuned with tire size (rollout) and more finely with tire pressure.

i'm going to take a chance with this setup and a 9k redline

3.070 1st
2.105 2nd - drops to 6179
1.458 3rd - drops to 6255
1.107 4th - drops to 6832

vs

3.070 1st
1.900 2nd - drops to 5577
1.458 3rd - drops to 6913
1.107 4th - drops to 6832

after hard consideration and reading some more threads, it seems 2nd gear is important as a momentum gear. so for drag, the 1.9 second gear would basically bog its way up to 9k before I could rip through the gears.

a 2.105 keeps my rpms up and keeps me moving.
mfactory give us the 2.76 1st gear!!! i'm excited to see what it does

Ok I finally got a few dyno pulls in.

Here is my dyno. I hope this helps to suggest what I should do.

Take the zero off the ends. Then it equals rpm very closely.
The mph is very close to my rpm. My redline is 9100. Catch my drift.
