Default broken axle LSD

I went to the track today for the first time ever ran my car first run 13.55 was pleased, however on the second run I preloaded at the line but when I took off I began to wheel hop then BLAMO ! I broke my left front axle what I wanna know is why with the quaife lsd would the car still not move ?? shouldn't it still move due to the lsd .I have the broken axle out and am going to get a new one in the morning the other axle appears fine and sounds fine when you rotate the tire no strange noises so why no movement of the car with an lsd? I had to call a roll back $112 ride home live and learn expensive first day at the track !

Why should the Quaife LSD only provide power to one wheel? It can't.

Research TorSen style differentials.

It worked exactly as design, the driver failed by not pushing in the clutch and aborting the run.

what he is saying is a lsd like the quaife unit will not "lock up" if an axle snaps. every lsd like this has a torque bias ratio, basically how much more torque can be transmitted to one side over the other. take for example a 75:25 ratio. so the lsd can put up to 75% of the total torque to one tire, but it MUST put the other 25% to the other wheel. if it cant put that 25% down to the other wheel, a la broken axle, none of the torque will be transmitted to the other wheel.

well I put the new axle in didnt tear up anything else all seems good and sounds good 65 dollar axle .I am glad the lsd is designed the way it is imagine the unbroken axle keeping the car moving and the broken axle tearing **** to peices that would be ugly. I am so happy thats all that broke I am thinking I should look into some stronger axles how do you guys feel about that and should I go all out hasports or do you guys have any other reccomendations !

Well it depends on what your set up looks like, but i don't think its really the axles, more just a poor suspension set up, and/or not pre-loading enough. there are plenty of guys running way faster times on stock axles. If you are looking for some good axles with lifetime warranty check out raxles, not to expensive but much better quality then remans.

I try to help ,So what I broke an axle it happens , stuff breaks . Oh well its fixxed and I'll be going back to the track soon .
