Default assembly of b16 tranny?

im on the last step of rebuilding my trans. and i cant seem to get the snap ring to go in the groove of the bearing? its deff. around the outer cir. of the bearing but will not slide down. there is a gap in the seat of the casing where it seems the bearing should seat into. i just replaced the bearing and snap ring. also i cant find the torque for the case bolts? anyone have any ideas?

if the snap ring is around the outer race fully, then that is not keeping the case from completely closing.

Take a long screwdriver and pry the counter shaft up into the snap ring groove(from the opening)

If the snap ring is spread around the CSB but not in the groove, do not tighten the case bolts. Bad things can happen when you do that.

Do as EVS said. Case bolts are 20 ftlbs.

if the cases have mated, CS ring properly expanded but just not locked in, flip the tranny over, listen for the click.

Gravity is a wonderful thing.

tried that and no go. it moved closer but not enough. tried prying with a screwdriver, but that didnt work either. is it possible to have tightened the nut down too far? or pressed the bearing down too far?

Just make sure prior to attempting to tighten/closing the cases that the snap ring is spread apart. If so and you have the cases mating now. Put half the bolts in snuggly. Flip it over and gently boune it on a couple thick phone books.
