Need help diagnosing cause of tranny rattle, maybe input shaft bearing (video)
I was hearing a rattling noise coming from the tranny when the clutch was engaged (pedal out/up) in any gear and neutral. it seemed to increase with rpm. once i disengaged the clutch (pedal depressed/in) the noise eventually went away.
well i did some reading and it sounded like the problem was the input shaft bearing but upon disassembly of the tranny, the bearing seems fine. It spins freely with no resistance or noise, and theres not much play. Can it still be bad? I noticed it did slide on the input shaft really easily, maybe thats where the problem is?
Other than that, I noticed a few other bearings that seemed to have a lot more play. Is that the problem. Could one of these be the problem? I hope not cause if that the case ill just trash the tranny

That second bearing on the countershaft is meant to move back and forth that much, check the bearings very closely. They will make a ton of noise, but seem decent when you take it apart. If there is any slight rough spots, replace it.
