Default 2000 CRV code P0740

I installed a used transmission in a 2000 CRV, and after about 30 miles the MIL came on and code 0740 was set. The used trans had dirty fluid, but did not smell burnt. When I installed the used trans I flushed it with about 2-3 quarts of new ATF until the fluid coming out looked clean. I did this by taking the cooler return hose off and running the engine briefly while in park. The trans is shifting normally and there is no sign of the converter clutch working abnormally. I replaced the TCC solenoids with the ones from the original trans, cleared the code and tested the car. The MIL came on with the same code right away. FYI, the old trans was still shifting properly, it was replaced because the side gears failed. Also, there wasn't any debris in the screens on the TCC I removed. Any ideas what may be the problem?

Im experiencing the same problem. I have a 98 fwd. Car would not move once the fluid got hot. I bought and installed a low mile jdm trans. Tansferred over all of the Usdm sensors, solenoids, etc. Car runs fine, even set the monitors and allowed me to smog the car. However, after about 50 miles I got the 740. One guy messaged me and said he had the same thing, got his to go away after he installed a brand new tq converter. Another guy said I need the jdm transmission control module. Theres gotta be someone on here who has beaten this code

Maybe you have a jdm trans? Check the code on it. I have tried everything and cant get the code to go away. Today I even put in a brand new tq converter. I believe this thread to be correct. Jdm has 40 teeth and usdm has 38. The speeds just wont match properly(converter to rpms)
