Y1 Tranny Rebuild
Well< I just blew my diff. so i was wondering if i can get some advice. I was wondering what kind of lsd differential i should get and where i can get it for a good deal? also my second and third gear kind of grinds at high rpm. So i was wondering what i would have to do? Jay told me that id need to change the sychros. If so what kind can i use? from any b16 transmissions? Please help me, I dont want to buy a different transmission and ending up being messed up too. Please dont flame
There's actually a dozen or so problems that can cause gear grinding. People just automatically assume it's the synchros. You won't know for sure until you take the housing off the tranny and have a look inside.

the grinds are probablly the syncros check for wear on the syncros and sleaves. i personally dont have one but i have drove in 2 cars with them and want one bad. quaife lsd's they are awsome and sexpensive.
Grinding is only caused by worn out synchros about half of the time. The other half of the time it's caused by misalignment issues.
But the misalignment issues can be caused by lots of things. Improper clutch install, broken c-clips, or basically anything broken inside that causes the mainshaft to fall out of alignment.
