Default Tranny Grind questions

I recently traded a car with my friend. It has the JDM y1 LSD tranny. Heres the deal. Its hard to get into 2nd gear, sometimes I would have to shove it in. And in Third Gear it grinds when I shift from 2nd-3rd. Anyway to fix this problem? Im pretty sure the teeth are all messed up. Should I just buy a new one? Is there anyway I could buy a new LS tranny and swap over the LSD?..

Thanks

EDIT. Its a y1 LSD transmission

If you're brave enough you can open up the tranny you have and replace the gears/synchros.

Also, you may want to try some of the Penzoil Synchromesh FM. It may help your problems.

it helped mine out a little.... my synchro are pretty messed (cause my sister drove my car while i was away at school and i hadn't replaced the trans oil since i thought it was just gonna be sittin in my driveway)

but about the GM... it helps if u get the GM synchromesh Friction MOdified stuff.
My car slips into gear a lot easier now, and it doens't grind as bad... I can almost drop 2nd as fast as i used to be able to without getting mad-style grinds. Goto ur GM dealer, I got 2 quarts for $21... it's worth it to give it a shot. Plus if it doesn't work just drain it right out and save it for your new trans

it really helped me out. but ya gotta wait like 500 miles for it to really works. it's got to like bond with the metals or something. The friction modifiers also wear out quick in honda trannys. you'll need to change the fluid every 8000 miles or so to keep it feeling great. My tranny seems to get better with every fluid change (more pure GM Friction Modified Gold!)

yes its expensive. but worth every penny IMHO.
