Default WRX compression

i was at the milwaukee auto show and a rep from one of the subaru dealers told me that the wrx turbo has a 16:1 compression. that seems pretty high for a forced induction car. I know that boxer engines have different characteristics...but 16:1? is that right?

The boxer engines are exactly the same as an inline engine as far as their basic operation. They differ mainly in cylinder arrangement. That guy must have been talking about the new diesel WRX...

whoever told you 16:1 hit them in the head. hard. you need to run methanol at a compression ratio that high.

This is why I hate most car reps/dealers. They have no clue of what they are doing or selling. I could tell tons of stories about idiotic dealers, but it isn't worth the time. 16:1, lol. Yeah, turbo that and run it on 91 octane. Just make sure I'm there with a video camera for when you try and start it up.

Ditto what everyone else said. For the record it's 8:1, aka ready for more boost
