Default Compression Results......Thumbs up to Turbo???

I have a b18b with 100,000 miles on it.

The compression results were:
#1. 195, #2. 185, #3. 180, #4. 200

Do you think that Im good to go for a daily driven turbo setup. Im plannin on bossting 6-9 pounds. Anyone have experience turboing their car at 100,000 miles or more?

when do you know you got bad compression, whats the difference between the numbers before you should pull the head and do some work?

hmmm 2 and 3 are a little low but that would be expected on a 100,000 mile motor........ i think that running 6-9 psi would be fine.. there are people on here that have done it.

i have about 40,000 on mine and read 210 across all cylinders....

if u notice huge differences between cylinders then something is wrong but if they are all fairly close then things should be fine...i say if u got much lower than u are now like maybe 170-160 then begin to think about doing a rebuild just to be on the safe side....

i am no expert when it comes to comrpession stuff though. but if u start dipping lower then u are then u might as well rebuild since u'll be losing power with ur cylinders not being able to hold the compression they are capable of.

well check with an FSM or Chiltons or some other form of mechanical guide. I know in my 240, you had a minimum compression and then a maximum difference. Sure your compression could be high like the numbers you have, but that number 3 cylinder could be trying to tell you something. So find out what is the maxiumum difference you can have on a B18B. I dont claim to be a compression expert either though...still worth a look see

Thanks for the info guys!
Haynes says:
"Standard b18b1.......199psi"
"Minimum..................140psi"
"Maximum variation between cylinders....28psi"

I thought that my compression seemed pretty good, but I was just wondering what causes the variation between cylinders.
