would having the wrong ecu cause vtec to not engage?
the setup is a b18c1 swapped into an EF civic. I am not sure what ecu it is running so could it be that since the b18c utlizes the butterflies that using the wrong ecu is causing the vtec to not engage?
a p28 is a single over head cam vtec computer. it will engage, but not nearly as strong as a p72 or a dual cam vtec ecu. correct me if im wrong though.
yes, having the wrong ecu for the motor you have will cause vtec to not engage, or engage just slightly. had the same problem till i changed to a chipped ecu.
