Icon2 Wiring troubles

So I'm in the middle of putting a B18B1 in a 93 Civic. All of the other wiring harnesses have plugged up no problem, but now I'm a bit confused on the distributor. The plug is completely different on the new distributor, so I thought I would have to splice in the old plug from the old distributor. But as I got to looking at it, all the colors of the wires don't match up directly. I've searched but found nothing related. Any help appreciated.

What year is your B18? Sounds like you have an OBD2 distributor. Either use an adapter, swap internals over or this:

Your post is very informative and I appreciate it, but unfortunately I do not know what year the engine is out of and the plug on the distributors pictured does not match the plug currently on the engine.

Also I just soldered on the other plug that's hanging to the right in the 3rd picture. That plug was not originally on there.

Oh, its an OBD0 distributor. Unfortunately you can't use that distributor with an OBD1 or OBD2 ECU. You'll have to get an OBD1 (preferred to match your harness) or OBD2 distributor from a B18B and use an adapter harness.

I appreciate your help and have a couple more questions on the subject if you don't mind.

Did the ODB0 distributor originally come on here? If not, why would it be on there?

Is there any way to tell if my B series is ODB 1 or 2 without knowing the year?

If it is ODB2, is this going to cause me more problems? Also would this explain why I have a few plugs with nowhere to go coming from the wiring harness?

Once again thanks a lot I appreciate it.

Where did you get the engine? Someone probably had it in an OBD0 Civic or Integra. You can look at the date stamp on the head to see what year it is out of. Post the pics of the plugs and I can help you determine if they belong to OBD1 or OBD2.

The motor was purchased from someone who had it in an EG Civic, which makes this even more confusing. The numbers on the head say 88.

One more question. Would I be able to take the distributor off of my D15B7 and bolt it up?

Now that I'm thinking about it, how was my B18 made in 1988 I thought they didn't produce them until '91?

If won't bolt up perfect but it'll work. Not sure how they had it running unless they were using an OBD0 ECU. Can you post a pic of the block stamp and the head stamp? They didn't make a B18 in 88. 1990 was the first year they made the B18.

So just to double check, what you're saying is unless I'm running an ODB0 ECU, there's absolutely no way this distributor will work even if I spliced the other plug onto it?
