Wiring Problem
We are installing a 1993 B-18-B Non-Vtec Acura into a 1993 Civic Hatch. We get to wiring and have two problems/questions:
1) Our B-18-B Acura has no map sensor on top of the throttle body, no hole, nothing. The motor was shipped from Japan. I have a plug in my wiring harness in the car. I know the OBD-1 wants to see the map, right? My old motor, a B-16-B throttle body is not the same. The "FIT" on fast idle thromo is different, etc. What is the fix?
2) The B-18-B has no knock sensor on motor but I have a plug in my harness. Is OBD-1 looking for this too? What is the fix for this?
Also in my Haynes Repair Manual, Honda Civic and Del Sol 1992-1995, on page 6-6, Emissions and Engine Control Systems, under MAP they say, "The map sensor is located inside the control box which is attached to the firewall. Is this a stand-alone map sensor? Not mounted on throttle body? I called my Honda Parts people in Austin, Texas and he thinks I'm dizzy. HELP! Or is there a stand-alone sensor? If so, this might fix my #1 problem. Any Suggestions? Jimmy

1. Map sensor was on the firewall on the 1993 civic except for Si. Get one and Tee it off the Fuel pressure regulator.
2.I assuming your LS motor came with no throttle body. i thinking you B16B throttle should the LS manifold.
3. Knock sensor shouldn't matter whether the harness has it or not. It all depends on the ECU. if you are using a USDM P75 ecu...You don't need knock sensor.

Thanks for the answer... on the first one, is there a part number for the Honda/Acura map sensor? My Honda parts guy said it doesn't exist.
on the second, the throttle body was shipped on the motor from Japan.
on the third thing, on the computer, my ECU is a P-61 which is out of a 92-93 GSR B-17-A. It was in the car when we bought it. Is this not the right ECU for the car?
Any info is greatly appreciated! jimmy

Chris, my son and I've got the Honda running, but I've got another question about the Throttle: We need to change throttle bodies on the motor, which is the 1993-1994 B-18-B Acura motor. I like Edelbrock's 65mm and they come with pre-calibrated a TPS sensor, but the #EDL-4790 specifically fits the Integra GS-R 1994-2001 I.88L but will this throttle body fit and work on our Honda/Acura Motor?
thanks again, Jimmy
