Will this work for fuel pump testing?
So i went out last night and asked someone at a meet what he thinks the prob with my car is. I explained that when the boost hits it seems to really bog down a lot, it feels choppy. He said it sounds like a lean burn, and is probably the fuel pump (my walboro 255 is almost 6 years old now).
He said a way to check is to put a pair is vise-grips on the fuel return line just after is leaves the engine in the bay and just hit boost once to see if it pulls much stronger. If it pulls normally again than it is the fuel pump. If not, it's something else.
I'm not too sure about this method of testing, but he seemed to know exactly what i was talking about, and that he's had his walboro not hold fuel pressure before.
Some background: my car has been bogging like this for about a year and a half; this was not a gradual problem (it just happened over night); i've replaced cap, rotor, rings, head gasket; done a leak down and pressure test (passed both with flying colors).
I'm frustrated with the prob and want to know if this will work? THanks!!

do u have a adjustable fuel pressure gauge? if u do, whats the setting, my car bogged with a stock fpr until i put a adjustable one on and turned it up
Yesterday I just bit the bullet and got a new fuel pump without doing the test. It turned out to be the pump afterall! I went out cruising with my boys to celebrate!!!
I'm so psyched since my car has had this bogging problem for about 3 years...that mean the pump has been working, but not at full capacity for that long now.
My car has never run this smoothly! and last dyno'd it made about 300whp =p
