Default Will a Vtec head fit a D15?

I've got an 87 Si hatchback with the D15 engine, is is possible to swap on a VTEC head, or at least a newer head with the spark plugs in the top? Or am I better off just stuffing a different motor in? Also, how the $#@$#@ do you set the ignition timing? I cant' find a bolt that will let me turn the distributor, is the timing fixed on these?

all a6/b7/z6/y8 heads will swap. if using a 1.6 head then you will need to use a 1.6 timing belt then also because the deck height is different between both the 1.5's and the 1.6's. as for the dizzy there should be 3 12mm head bolts, one on top, bottom and one in back. loosen them up and slide either front or back. use a timing light though. if you will be swapping the heads then please consider the a6/b7. both the same. just different cams.
