Default head swap

i justb put a z6 head on my y8 block,should i use the y8 timming 0r the si timming

yes the timming marks,on the z6. on the hayes repair book it say that the timming on the si sohc is not alinged with the head ,but the dx is,the y8 head is also alined with the head so how should i put the head on my setup

Well, I dont have a haynes manual to look at, but I have done timing belts on 5th gen SI's and I put a z6 head on my wifes car and every I've done the timing the same way.

Rotate the cam till the "up" is pointing up and then lined the marks up with the head.
I've never ran into a single problem.

How do they tell you to set the timing on a z6, if you dont line up the marks with the head?
