will there be problems if my speedometer cable is out??
i just swapped new engine into my car and am anxious to start it up and drive it to see how badly i screwed things up, anyway my speedometer sensor thingy that drops into the tranny got messed up so i need to get a new one, meanwhile i want to know if by not having it in there something could get messed up, besides my speedometer not working....let me know asap cause i am waking up bright and early to get this thing running.
yes, you can drive! who say you couldn't? but yea, i driven without a speedo cable or a gauge cluster & it runs fine. your speedo won't work & your odometer won't work either. check engine will come on after couple of miles.

oil from where? the sensor?
you know what's weird, i could still hit vtec the time i had a broken speed cable, but i can't hit vtec when i had a broken speed sensor.

yeah, if the speedo cable is not in, you will have no vtec. In my b16 when I replaced my tranny I didn't push the speedo cable all the way in and the thing drove like a dog, and wouldn't rev past 6500 or so, then a few minutes I threw a cel. I went back to my house, checked the code, and sure enough it was the vehicle speed sensor. Pushed in the speedo cable a little more, and voila - vtec.
