My luck with this head is FUBARED!

This is the second problem with my head, that was supposed to leave yesterday.

I had a machine put a thread insert in for the long, (8mm i believe) dist., cam cap bolt that i broke.

When i was taking out the allen plug under this spot, where the rocker arm shaft slides in...this is what i find. sonsofabitch.

Again, sorry for the high res pics. Needed detail.

What goes in that hole? An allen head sealing plug? As long as it didn't damage the rocker shaft bearing areas you can build it up by welding (or more correctly the shop who damaged it should take responsibility IMO) and fixed. Depending on how much pressure it has to seal it can be repaired with epoxy but that is a really half-assed fix and I would not accept that from the machine shop.

it's not fucked, but it will definitely have to be fixed, being where it is. that area will have to be welded up, and re-tapped for the allen bolt, then re-machined where the aluminum crush washer seats

Looks like they went too far and deep when repairing your threads for your cam cap. I would definately bring that back to their attention.

Good luck!
