Will I pass the OBD2 scan?
I have a 2000 DX hatchback that will be getting a 2001 B18C1 swap in a month.I know the obd2b gsr ecu has a immobolizer so I'm thinking about buying a obd2b>obd2a harness and obd2a gsr ecu to get rid of the immoblizer and CEL(I think this will work around it?). When emission time comes up and they plug the scanner into my OBD2 port, Will I pass? Would they care as long as its OBD2? Or will I fail? BTW I live in Massachusetts
It will pass as long as you don't get a check engine light. If you do trip the light on, don't try to pull the battery right before you get the OBD2 check done, you'll just fail because the monitors would be all reset to "not complete."
Well.. Not only the OBDII scanner checks for a "CEL" it'll also check the status of your monitors (evap, egr, o2, misfire, cat, and etc). Usually it takes about two weeks with out resetting the ecu for these monitors to be complete. If you happen to clear the codes before the smog check, your car will fail due to uncomplete monitors. BAR requires at least 2 mointors to be set in order to pass the OBDII portion.
how about this variable....can an obd1 ecu datastream so that the obd emissions scanner will pick up the info? my 97 lude has a p13 obd1 ecu in it, with both 02 sensors plugged up to the chassis wiring harness, the only thing being there is no cat....i will either be bolting in or welding on a cat in the near future...even if i run a borrowed obd2 ecu...will it throw a code running obd1 injectors and resistor box?
sorry to hijack the post, but it seems the previous question was answered......thanks in advance!

The OBDI P13 that you currently have in your car will not link up the to OBDII scanner (it'll just show no communication)... The same really goes for you too, as long as you are running everything not to have a CEL (i.e. all sensors are plugged in) you should pass just fine... The injectors won't have any effect either, there's no way for the scanner itself to see a difference in injectors as you are running a resistor box... Hope this helps
its cool...i have a friend who will let me borrow an obdII ecu at the drop of a hat...assuming all codes are gone, thanks for the help!
