wierd electricity
Hey ht about a week ago my car started to over heat after about an hour long highway dtive lower coolent hose was ice cold so i just re did them themastat got rid of the crappy napa one i had just installed and went oem honda but the really wierd part is as that happened my stero kicked out like it wasn't getting enough juice and after replacing the thermostat my coolent guage will do wierd things like jump all the way to hot when i turn the hot air on this is in a 92 DA9 when i get in the car it barrly has enough juice to pull my seat belt on . Even the memory or what ever for my gas guage doesn't seem to be working .
Battery is at full charge and all my grounds are good I'm at a loss for what could be going on.

Yeah i have it connected ill double check tommorow make sure it good n tight ! Any one else have any ideas it seems strange 1 ground could be messing with my entire system from seatbelts to radio
to me this sounds just like a bad ground somewhere....
disconnect and clean your battery ground on the battery side and the chassis side - chassis side tends to rust
disconnect and clean your valve cover ground
disconnect and clean your ground cable from the transmission to the chassis - chassis side also tends to rust
disconnect and clean your ground on the thermostat housing - oxidizes and causes a weak connection, clean the housing and the wire eyelet good with a wire brush or sand papaer
under the hood take off the fuse box cover and check the connections of the wires in there....while your in there look for any signs of corrosion anywhere...pull a few fuses and relays to get a good look
take your time to clean all of the contacts good even if they look ok....
replace any of them that are frayed or just shitty looking
it also doesnt hurt to add another ground cable from the bell housig to the chassis
if this still doesnt resolve your problem then run a heavy ground cable from the alternator body to the chassis or negative battery terminal... or you can simply disconnect the alternator completly and start the car with it disconnected and see how everything acts. the alternator could have a short inside causing everything to act up...
good luck!

this should also resolve the issue with your gauges acting erratic...
poor electrical connections will make electronics go haywire....
as for the overheating...a thermostat will cause the lower hose to not warm up, from no circulation or its possible that your radiator has a clog, not allowing coolant to circulate properly..

As has been mentioned, grounds.
With any electrical issue, the first thing to do is to elliminate grounding as the problem, the only way to do that is to disconnect/clean/reconnect, DO NOT just eyeball them or think they are good just because they are tight.
The number one one electrical problem, [by far] we see in our shop, [Dave Ward Auto Electric] is grounding related.
Even if it turns out grounding is not your problem, redoing them is the only way to elliminate them, and it sure can't hurt to redo the grounds on a 20 year old car. 94

Can someone post up a pic of what the transmission to chassis ground is supposed to look like as I'm not seeing one at all on my car and if someone could tell me how to post picks i can show u guys what I'm looking at.
thanks alot wwcrxww im ordering some 4awg wire and connectors to redo all of my grounds. the valve cover ground was totally loose and had paint on both ends of the wire i saw a little improvement by cleaning and tightening those but still having some issues. ill post up when the wire comes in and hopefully all problems will be solved

get a volt meter and measure the difference in resistance at different points
one end on the battery terminal( not the connector, the actual terminal)
1between terminal and end of ground strap
2 between terminal and shock tower chasis
2 terminal to tranny ground strap
3 terminal to other engine ground straps
4 terminal to engine body(thermostat housing, valve cover tranny block etc)
by that time you should be able to tell if theres a problem with ground somewhere.
at any point there shouldnt be any more than .4 ohm

well guys today o got my 4 gauge cadence power wire and threw a couple grounds together redid the valve cover added a transmission to chassis ground and i doubled up on the terminal negative to transmission ground as 4 guage was smaller than i expected but all of these cleared up my problems right away!!! so thanks alot everyone if i get my camera some time this week ill post up some picks of the setup its kinda funny i stuffed in a battery tray from my old accord a while ago since had like a lawn mower batter when i bought it. thanks again everyone!!!!
