Default Why is it topping out at 4000?

i just did a bunch of work to my car, and now that its all put back together, the engine wont rev higher than 4000. it runs smooth and timing is perfect. but it feels like the fuel cutoff moved down to 4000 instead of 6400, any ides?

long story short, i changed my head gasket. I do have an MSD box, and a chipped ecu, but i have had those for a while with no problems. The strange thing is it boggs a up and down at 4000 while sitting still in neutral or while the clutch is in, but when driving, it goes right up to my 6000 limiter. Also, normal driving is smooth, but when i really step on it, its lagging. no check engine light, any ideas?

ok, to add to that, i am a moron, i never knew my bro programmed in launch control to the ecu at 3750. but i still dont know why it laggs really bad and sounds like **** when I accelerate. I reset the ecu and there are no trouble codes other than my stupid abs that i could care less about.

Try running a normal ECU?

chipped (right) ecu > stock ecu....if the engine needs it.

and Bense said that if you're running crome for your ecu, that launch control hates life. Please tell me this is a tuned chip you're running, and not an ebay skunk2 chip.

Yes it is a manually programmed chip from professional tuning. I will never put ebay **** in my car unless it is a stock part. I put my factory ecu back in the car for now until I get the new one re-tuned and reprogrammed.

by the way, it was only topping out at 4000 when i was not moving, while moving it revved right up, I didnt realize launch control, haha. whats wrong with crome launch? Ive never had any problems, im just a retard and didnt know i had launch b/c before doin the head gasket, i never raised it that high at a stop.
