O.K heres the story, I purchased my VAFC used and didn't get a instruction manual with it so I downloaded the manual from the Apex'i site and installed the unit, after the install I double checked all my work and made sure everything was correct. Well after driving and something not sounding right I discovered that everytime that I shut off the car I lose my settings. Why is it doing this?? I know that it is something very minor but I can't seem to figure it out. I would use the CD ROM that I saved the manual onto but I seem to have misplaced it . Thanks in advance for the help.

 

hmm...i'd give apexi a call for a good answer. maybe u guys got bad afc's. that must suck! good luck!

I was looking on Apex'i web site and found this.

Q. VAFC does not retain any of the data that I program into it? I s something wrong?

A. Please make sure that the INITIALIZE setting is set to the NO position. This menu can be found under the ECT mode. The INITIALIZE setting should never be set to YES unless you want to reset all of the information to the default settings.

I don't know about you but I believe that this will solve my issues.

 

i haven't had any problems w/ mine just check to see if you hook it at the right power wire

 

Problem solved, I had it highlighting YES under initialize instead of NO.

 

Thats what I thought. Its a common mistake for those who are not familiar with the VAFC. NEVER put it in the initialize setting unless you want to start over and Dyno tune your car.
