Why does my transmission whines when...
I was driving around a majority of the day on my 100k mile gsr. My friend was going to drive my car home tonight and when she started it, a whining noise was evident right away.
On the way home, when the clutch pedal was pressed to the floor and held, the transmission would make a horrible whine. The whine could be heard loudly in 2nd and 3rd withe clutch pedal held at the floor. However, the whine would go away as soon as the clutch pedal was brought off the floor.
Does anyone know what this could be caused by?
Thanks in advance.

If the car is not moving when you hear the noise, I would say the throwout bearing. Generally any noise that only occures when the clutch is depressed is from the throwout bearing. If it's the original clutch, it is probably just about time for a new one anyway. It probably will not fail completely right away, but it will get progressively worse. I'd deal with it fairly soon.
