Why does my tach twitch?

I've got a 92 si. Why is it that my tach jumps around, about 500 rpms each direction? The engine itself is uneffected; it is only the gauge that is acting screwy.

How can I fix it?

I would like to know this as well. I have a 1990 crx si. Mine twitches way more usually when i go above 3k rpm. The engine isn't affected

check all your grounds. including batt terminal. that caused mine to do that

Another one people overlook is the ground by the thermostat housing. That will Definately cause a twitchy needle!!!
