white smoke when hitting vtec...help!
Ok, whenever i hit vtec anymore, white smoke comes out of the exhaust like im burning coolant. i dont have a coolant leak, that I can tell, and the compression in the motor seems fine. (b18c5) 230 240 235 230. it only smokes when vtec cuts in, also seems like it is a little sluggish. the spark plugs are white tipped, so im running a little lean also. anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong. could it have somthing to do with the ecu at vtec crossover? also, the car has overheated twice awhile ago though, but it happend at the track while sitting in the lanes. it never overheats during daily driving, no matter how hard i was running it. i havnt ran it hard recently due to the smoking in vtec. could that have caused any probs. i dont think it did since the compression was fine, but then again, im not a mechanic, nor do i claim to be. any help would be appreciated. if i left any important information out, just post what you need to know and i will reply. motor is stock.
thx

Sounds like someone else here with a head gasket problem. If it overheated recently than it is most likely a head gasket.

That does make sense, and the coolant level is low...however, wouldnt i see water in the oil, and vice versa? and i was told that a headgasket problem would lead to a loss in compression...although thats just from some of my coworkers.
However that does seem like the only way for coolant to get into the engine to where it is burning out the exhaust. Thanks.
