Default white smoke when decelerating to accelerating??

When driving on the highway and I decelerate for a couple second and I accelerate again, I will get a cloud of white smoke. Anyone know what can cause this?

white = water
black = gas
blue = oil

if it smokes out when decelerating, then it sounds like worn valve seals. if you noticed the smoke in broad daylight, it could have been greyish smoke which is also a color of burnt oil. if it's thick n white like that of a steam engine, then its definately water vapor.

Check your valve and ignition timings. You can also test your MAP sensor signal voltage at normal idle & normal operating temperature.

Smoke color is kind of relative to the observer. One person sees white while the guy next to him sees blue.

Smell the smoke but dont stand back there getting high, if its a little sweet, then its antifreeze, the black stuff is the water washing out your exhaust system, probably.

Keep a very close eye on your fluid levels each morning before you start. It dont take much to make smoke.

I have the same problem. My engine is definitely burning oil, but not a large amount to cause concern. I've also heard some say it's worn/stuck oil rings. So worn valve seals could be to blame also?

Many times stuck rings can be cured by one or two treatments of SEAFOAM directly into the throttlebody with a running engine, be very careful and search the archives for the procedure, I have seen a very tiny vacuum hose used to suck it into the engine.

I clean engines before a rebuild by adding a quart of tranny fluid to the oil, drive that around for a little while, then do a complete oil and filter change.

Ok I went for a ride to test the smoke and I also get white smoke in gear coming to a stop. I don't notice any lost of water but I do notice a minor lost in oil... My rear bumber got some tiny wet oil spray on after a normal drive. It takes degreaser to remove.. The car also smoke while in full throttle..

OK, its time for a Leak Down Test, if there is sufficient leak down, you probably have weak piston rings or leaking head gasket, if Leak Down checks ok, then you probably have bad valve guide seals, most likely on the exhaust valves.

If you really want to dig in, you can pull the exhaust manifold and look into the exhaust ports and see the back side of the valves and make a good decision on the guides.

Compare a couple of different cars to yours, pull the oil fill cap, put your hand over the hole with the engine idling and see how much blowby you have. Now for bad valve guide seals, you will normally get some good smoke when you first start the car, then the smoke will clear up after a little while, of course it will still smoke on heavy accel and decel, the same as bad rings. Bad rings may not smoke so much on start up but will smoke more as the engine heats up. These are not hard and fast rules but a guide.

did you learn this one from an advance auto??

i hate when people give crazy info to the op that just leaves him more confused than before.

tell us some details on your setup. for starters what motor. 180 on a comp test could be lower numbers depending on motor. then again they could be just fine

Start with small things then work your way bigger things like blown rings or valve seals. it could be as simple as your pcv valve beeing clogged and pushin oil elsewhere.

as far as when your showing symptoms it sounds more like blowby than anything else.
i had the same problem on my build and i had new rings, seals, valves, etc and i removed the oG pcv system and made a catch can setup vented to the atmosphere. and the car has never smoked again.

*i'm not saying this is your problem but keep in mind that with enough crankcase pressure oil can get by brand new rings or seals

Didnt I just say check for blowby, depending on the answer will guide to further diagnosis.
