Default where is the coolant going???

hey guys, i have a 1st gen b16 in my 92 integra. i replaced the radiator about a year ago so i dont think that is the problem. i lose a good amount of coolant when i am driving, like about half the radiator after 30 miles. im not sure what could be wrong. i see a small wet spot sometimes on my driveway in the morning, but not nearly the amount that i am losing. could it possibly be a problem with my thermostat? any help would be appreciated. thanks

what would be another sign of the blown head gasket, compression test? any other ideas on the coolant?

Um there is a special fluid you can put into the coolant and it turns a ceritan color if there is exh. in it. A blown headgasket can just happen, normal wear/useage. I dont know where to get it cause I had a shop test my sisters civic cause I couldnt find out why it was eating coolant.... Good Luck

definately look into the leak. the coolant system is pressureized when its hot, so it will leak more while it is running than it would just sitting there

Chances are it's evaporating from hitting something hot, before it reaches the ground. Thats probably why your only finding a small puddle...

Have you actually seen this happen?

No, I have not seen it happen... Because I have not jacked my car up, and climbed under it to watch while it's hot. However, I have found traces of coolant dried on the block/fittings. Without finding any puddles on the ground, sooo with a little "logic" that is what it's telling me that is happening.

Do you have any other suggestions... hehehehe

I didn't think so. It's not very likely.

It's whatever you want to think...

Engines are running in the 180 degree range, thats only 32 degrees before water starts to boil. Unless, where you live things are different... hehehehe

Thats why you should run a 50/50 mix (or whatever mixture you prefer) of coolant and water. Plus it then has a higher cooling point and boiling point.

evaperation has nothing to bo with boiling point! and yes it can evaperate or dry up when leakining on somthing hot. i just put a headgasket on my b18 and where it was leaking was a huge chunk of coolent under the timing belt cover
