where to connect a multimeter to act as a tachometer?
hello
In the search to get my idle set correctly, I would like to use my (cheapo) multimeter as
a tachometer, as the dash one does not seem too accurate at lower revs. Where would I connect
the multimeter to, or is this even possible? The set-up is a DOHC ZC in a '91 Civic Si.
any info appreciated

I was thinking more along the lines of using the meter's frequency reading function; do these engines have a mag. pickup somewhere? Or perhaps tapping into the cam postion sensor?
I connect one lead to the blue wire on the 2 pin connector that goes to the distributor. This blue wire goes to the dash tachometer. I use a backpinning probe to poke into the back of the connector so that I do not have to pierce any wire insulation. The other lead of course goes to ground. My multimeter has a tach on it but a frequency counter should work fine with a little math.
what kind of multimeters are you guys using?? im looking to buy a good one at the moment and want to get something really good..
