When is my engine gonna die?
To get to the point, i've got a 2nd gen B16a w/ a mildly ground cam and STOCK valvetrain. I've been reving the thing to about 9k for months and months, and the thing has yet to give me any trouble. Of course i know im an idiot, but i was kinda holding off on the valvetrain since i'm going turbo and not gonna be screaming it much afterwards.
I just wanna give a
to the stock honda valvetrain. Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'
I wish i was rich, i think i'd try taking it to 10k just to tempt the hand of death. Sorry for the useless post but its late and i'm still awake

I pushed mine to 8500 before a few times.. then it dropped an exhaust valve into the cyl and everything came apart.. not pretty.
But I wasn't overrevving it when that happened. Seems that the Spoon ECU just detonated like a ****. Be careful, if you cause any damage, it may not show up untl later on down the road.
But I admit it was fun as hell while it lasted

hahaha
i would be careful if your only looking to do your valvetrain you might not want to go to 9k much more. if you drop a valve or detonate too bad your gonna need block work.

stock motor will die never as long as you change oil. w/ the go fast goodies they die when ever they feel like it or when ever you kill it
taking the stock valvetrain to 9k will kill it.
IT will not only die if you keep takin it to 9k, but when it dies it will be a mess. If you dont stop revving it till your head it done, worst case, the majority of the parts in the engine will not be usable. Interesting things happen when things such as valves break off and fall into the engine.... holes, gouges, etc etc etc
I'm going to get straight to the point...don't TRY to kill your motor. Besides, more than likely, if it does die, it'll happen somewhere one night when you're with a huge group of people, or trying to impress a girl. It won't look to good if you're car starts shooting things through the hood.
