when does rev limiter kick in?
sup, i have a b16a2 w/ bolt ons and JG cam gears as the only engine internal ( if it is considered an internal) anyways i was gunning it yesterday when i was going into gear 2 i didnt put it in all the way therefore the thing reved extremely high due to the fact it is in nuetral. i remember looking at the rpm at 8200. i havent driven it since but i just worried. it drove home normally, i gunned it on the way back also. but if this ever happens the rev limiter will prevent it from bending valves etc...right?
thanks
thanks
it should just dont hold it there all day long . your motor is built pretty well for high rpms , a mistake here and there or just pushin it that hard you should be ok just dont make habit of it like everyday
the only way you can bent valves with a stock revlimit is by doing a mechanical over rev.
for example mis-shifting from 3rd to 2nd. when the stock rev limit wont stop the revs from going up
