Rev Limit
In an auto the rev limiter is slightly past the red line... what will happen when you hit it the car will bleed pressure off the block and automatically slow the car down.
Not a very good thing to hit the rev limiter...

so if u have a manual..just rev it..and when it gets to 7800 or watever...keep it there for lke 5 seconds and it will be my rev limit? Thanks
stock fuel cut off is 7800 on the tach, that would be your rev limiter cheif. You can just ask for the spec. All h22's got the same unless they got an ecu flash/swap. damn. go rev the **** out of it then, i dont care. dont complain when your valves look like an "S" when you pull them.

I don't rev the **** out of it, i just got it also..highest ive taken it is maybe 6800....just new and need the specs. I'm thinking about starting with a apexi n1 catback. what do yoou think of it?

Well, Honda gives birth to a motor, and they rev it till it dies, then they count 1K rpm under that and call it the red line with a big red line on the tach for you to see and admire going past it.

check out the locked post "prelude FAQ"by Honda318DX at the top of forum, one of the links is for the H22, if that doesn't work try doing a search....I'm sure this has been discussed before

you put the car in neutral and you rev it as high as you can for 1 min. the longer you hold it at WOT, the more your ECU will compensate for higher revs. next thing you know, you'll be able to rev to 9k.

you put the car in neutral and you rev it as high as you can for 1 min. the longer you hold it at WOT, the more your ECU will compensate for higher revs. next thing you know, you'll be able to rev to 9k.

I was kinda kidding in my earlier post. Like it has been mentioned and whill always be mentioned about rev limits: Its there for a reason. Machines can only move so fast until the machanical parts can no longer conatain the forces acting upon it, then it breaks. Piston engines can only rev so high, roatary on the other hand are different.
piston engine can only rev so high eh? of course but some rev to nearly 20,000 rpm while some redline at 5,000 and obviously there is alot of differences in these engines. Friction and weight are the main determining factors of this. Higher pistons speeds would obviously induce more friction and create more heat and more stress of rings and ring lands, higher speed and weight put increased force on the rotating assembly and also harmonics come into play when taking an engine to rpm range that it was not designed for.
k i understand specs etc...
but when someone upgrades thier cams or some internals in order to make thier rev higher...how do they determine thier new highest rev?

Lets say I got some magic pistons weighing 1 oz. and a magic crank and rods and a whole new crankshaft from Magic Corp Motors.
What determines my rpm limit now with out blowing it up,? J/W, no flames.
