Default wheel size affecting whp

Lets say ur stock wheels on ur car are 14 inch and u change them to 17 inch will this affect whp on a dyno or time on a 1/4 mile run if both wheels weigh the same............Thanks

your HP doesn't change, your gearing does (if the tires are larger/smaller in diameter), IF the wheels weight the same and the tires diameter are the same, the 1/4 mile run would be the same.

if the wheels weight the same, then you need to ask yourself if the rim/tire combo weights more or less than the 14 rim/tire combo you had before and if the diameter are larger or smaller as well

..and also the tire size affects your grip as well...for 17's you would usaull go 40-series..which would be better for the turns but for the launch could give you a little more wheel hop...but the fat sidewalls for the 65 on 14's would exsorb (spelling?) the escaping energy from the spining wheels...

im not 100% sure..but i do recall there being a thread on this before...and it was stated that a bigger tire/wheel combo...even weighing the same as the smaller combo..would affect quarter mile times negatively.
