Default Wheel Bearing replacement

Okay, so I just found out that really annoying sound that my car makes when it moves is being caused by wheel bearings, as I friend of mine pointed it out.

He said it isn't a very hard job to do, so I'm thinking that I'll attempt to replace the bearings myself. I have the factory service manual (but haven't looked into it yet as I'm away from it till Monday) and a friend's 20 ton hydraulic press at my disposal for pressing them in. I've never removed the hub before, but I have removed everything up to the hub to replace some studs.

Is this an easy and straightforward job is what I want to know.

I wouldnt totally say its straight forward. you got to make sure when using the press you have the proper fixtures to prevent damage to your new bearing. only push on the outside race. a little bit hard to explain in words, but i hope you understand what im saying.

A lot of people heat up the knuckle in their oven to about 250-275 degrees, and then freeze the bearing. The bearing is supposed to just slide in, simple. I haven't tried this yet but plan to.

Chad: who wishes there was a pictorial on how to replace bearings and wheel studs because I have to do it

using just the plain press works pretty good. just a little bit time consuming.
