i don't think you HAVE to, but it's something that you SHOULD do, wheel bearings are hardlly ever replaced, they suck when they go out. our cars are at an age where it's not uncommon for a bearing to go out, and you'll kick yourself if you don't do it now.

you dont have to.
its not a bad idea to repack the bearing while its out.

I think that its a good idea to because I think sometimes when you press it out the bearing gets messed up, and you might as well since its right there.

If your in there already do it. A little insurance never hurts.
Better than having it go out in the middle of nowhere and getting a $450 tow home of over 4 hours on Halloween and no shop that are even close.
Why do I say this? cause it happened to me.

the inner race is made of two parts. you split one half of the inner race and then remove the other side. the bearing is then completely open and repackable. just dont over fill it with grease. just use enough. and of course, use high temp synthetic grease.
the inner race will probably be stuck on the hub anyway when you remove the hub.
anyway, i certainly wouldnt ever disagree with replacing with new parts.

depends on the pressing machine....Something it rips up the whole thing....I didn't have to when i snapped some lugs and blah balh needed to replace hubs.....I did and it stopped the shakey car syndrom and made me feel an assload better about my swap....
So TRUE....go and do it it's worth the thought of knowing you fixed it real well.
plus better to error on the side of safety right?

How rough is the job of replacing the wheel bearings? My right rear is making a complaining noise that sounds like the bearing. Haven't started the project, just wondering about the work involved...

Re: (WindyCity)
Pull out the whole knuckle assembly.
Press out the spindle on the rack.
Cut inner race off spindle.
Press in new bearing on the rack.

False.
Good idea? True.
You'd might want to replace the hub too, since the new lugs won't fit properly in the hub. This is coming from experience with replacing all four corners with extended wheel studs.
Or you can spot weld it into place.

that depends which lugs you use? stock ones work just fine.

all lies! j/k
yeah, my problem was i used ARP extended studs and old school z.speed extended studs.
both spun in the damn hub. next time, I'm just gonna use the Legend studs...or whatever Acura stock studs that are longer than the rest.
