Quick question. What is the difference between a puck clutch disc and a street disc? I'm currently looking at the ACT HDSS clutch kit, but the ones with the puck discs are cheaper. What makes the street discs better than puck discs? Are puck discs less streetable?

Pucks grab quick and hard and have a very heavy pedal. You can street a puck but it's hard and hard on the flywheel.

a disc is a solid round disc. easier to handle and easier to drive.

a puck is a segmented disc. they come in 3 puck, 4, 6, 8. the less the pucks, the harder they grab.

I'm looking at the ACT Heavy Duty Clutch Kits at http://www.prostreetonline.com and they have them with puck discs and street discs. So basically, the pressure plate is the same for these kits, only the disc is different?

I heard that the ACT Heavy Duty pressure plates aren't too stiff; comparable to stock.. so wouldn't that make driving a puck disc easier? Can any one confirm this?

Did you check out http://www.advancedclutch.com/?

the pucks have harsh engagement. The street dics is easier to drive around once you get used to the stiff pedal. The pedal feels like stock again once you get used to it. I got the act hdss kit.
My only regret is that i got the streetlite flywheel. Should of got the prolite.

I've heard of the puck discs engaging so violently that they break spot welds on the mounts.
Is this true?

why do you regret getting the streetlite flywheel? i think i'm going to go with the HDSS kit and one of their flywheels. i'll still undecided on which flywheel - streetlite or prolite.
