what is wrong with my tranny?................
my 3rd gear grinds when i go over 3000rpm. what is wrong????........also, this is my first manual car so i am wondering whether slight vibrations at times is normal with the shifter as well as the brake n clutch?
i'm on 2nd gear and hitting over 3000rpm....then i shift to 3rd, thats when it grinds. if i shift under 3000rpm, it is good.....only when rpms are high, n then i shift, then it grinds
Yeah, that sounds like a shot synchro.
The vibration of the shifter lever is probably normal. Honda uses a directly-connected shifter, meaning the shifter is literally bolted onto the engine via a pair of bars. Other cars frequently use a cabling system to circumvent the noise/vibration/harshness factor, but it makes for a softer shift. Honda chose to go with the more direct-action shifter.
