Default what is the widest tire I can run??????

What is the widest tire I can run on my car without rubbing? Here is the situation, I've got a 98 civic 4 door, with 17x7 with a 40mm offset. I'm gonna be boosting here shortly, and I want to have the widest tire possible for the most traction possible. Right now I'm running 205/40/17. What is the widest I can go with and what will I have to do to run them. Spacers? Extended wheel studs? I've got ground controls and KYB's, so I can adjust the ride hight to where it needs to be so it won't rub. I would like to go up to a 225, is this too wide, or can I go even wider with spacers and all that. Thanks for the info.

If you really want to run the 225 then you could get the Kumho 225/45ZR17 which would fit your rim, but the tire is a little taller than what your running now because of the 45 series sidewall. Your best of to just go with a 215/40/17. theres not much difference, but you still get a little more contact patch.
