I have a tool that looks like a silver cylinder. it splits in two pieces one end set it on the retainer and whack with hammer and keepers jump up into magnet. The other end set the retainer and keepers on the valve stem and push down then whack with hammer and installed. It works great is fast and was only like 50 bucks of the snap on truck. I saw it the other day at a parts store but cant remember which one
****.. all you need is a magnet, tube, towel, and some cardboard. a snorkel and avocado help but not much in this case.

Did you ever try using that tool with the head already on the motor? I have used that motor once the head was off the car etc., but never with the head on the motor.
